About the Event

Children up to the age of seven laugh (on average) around 300-400 times a day.

...By adulthood, that reduces to (on average) just 15 times.

  • Where does our sense of playfulness go?
  • What impact does this have on our health?

Scientific research shows that laughter has profound, far-reaching mental, physical and emotional benefits when supporting the treatment of a wide range of conditions due to the way that mind and body responds when laughing.

Laughter can enhance memory, creativity and learning, provide perspective and emotional detachment in difficult situations, strengthen personal and working relationships, boost confidence, social skills and self-esteem, and improve engagement and productivity in work environments too. Laughter is also great for reducing stress and anxiety.

At this workshop, we (Barry Taylor and Katharine Markee) invite you to join us and participate in some simple, easy peasy, non-threatening laugh therapy exercises and laughter-inducing theatre games and a smidgeon of mindfulness, relaxation and meditation, all designed to get your chuckle muscles working and leave you feeling positive and energised.

Studies show we are 30 times more likely to laugh when we are with others than when we are alone. So LETS LAUGH together! Do your mind and body a favour and join us at Manor House Community Centre in Leicester on 16th February 2020 - slap bang in the middle of the Leicester Comedy Festival.
