Service Description

This twin workshop is available for establishments looking for strategies to introduce more laughter into the classroom environment. The workshops are for staff rather than students and is perfect for INSET days, CPD or to support initial teacher training and induction year NQT's. Introducing more laughter in to the classroom can… - Make learning more fun - Engage students and stimulate interest - Create ‘educational immediacy’ to enhance student/teacher relationships - Increases comprehension, retention and performance - Be a successful tool for managing conflict, difficult situations or sensitive content (when used correctly and effectively) - Improve the perception of the classroom environment resulting in a positive impact on absence, punctuality and disaffection - Increase concentration, alertness, creativity, divergent thinking and problem solving skills - Help pupils to reduce stress, tension and anxiety. The workshops will provide evidence to show the benefits laughter can have when correctly used in the learning process. They will explore the effective forms of humour to engage pupils and that complement and enhance learning which, evidence shows, can have a dramatic impact on grades. They will also examine the common forms of humour used in the classroom which have a negative impact on learning and performance. Mental health issues amongst young people are increasing. The causes are wide ranging and complex. Teachers are increasingly looked upon to have the skills to identify the early signs and respond effectively. In the sessions we will look at how to identify the signs, explore early interventions and develop strategies to create a more mindful classroom for greater mental and emotional resilience. The sessions are delivered by a fully qualified (enhanced DBS checked) laughter therapist, who is an experienced lead practitioner, primary and secondary schools teacher trainer and former Advanced Skills Teacher with over 20 years experience working with secondary and FE students. **We advise a maximum of 30 people for each session. We will gladly accommodate greater numbers, however, to run effectively, it may mean adding another workshop assistant at an additional cost. If you wish to combine this workshop with either our 'Laughter For Teaching' or 'Laughter For Learners' workshop, contact us and we will provide you with a bespoke package and quote to suit.**
