Welcome to Laugh Therapy

Laugh Therapy is the leading provider of laughter therapy workshops for schools, healthcare services, businesses and individuals.

We have all experienced first hand the power of laughter. It has the ability to lighten our moods and combat stress. Laughter can energise and engage, strengthen teams, enhance learning, lift morale, provide respite, build resilience and so much more.

Laugh Therapy was created to help people feel better, achieve more and live healthier, happier and more productive lives. We genuinely believe that laughter is the best medicine. Its impact on health and wellbeing is immense. We use laughter therapy to help people with a broad range of health conditions, as well as groups who recognise the impact it can have on education and productivity.

Through our many workshops and programmes, we aim to share its benefits with as many people as possible. We want to help people laugh more often, and to do so in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.

What is Laughter Therapy?

The National Cancer Institute defines Laughter Therapy as ...

"A type of therapy that uses humour to help relieve pain and stress and improve a person’s sense of well-being. It may be used to help people cope with a serious disease, such as cancer. Laughter therapy may include laughter exercises, clowns, and comedy movies, books, games, and puzzles. It is a type of complementary therapy. Also called humour therapy."

The benefits of laughter for our mind and body are far-reaching and can have a positive impact on our respiratory, circulatory and immune system, brain and heart function, pain and stress management among many others.

Laughter reduces the secretion of both stress hormones (so-called): adrenalin and cortisol.

A good sustained belly laugh results in a rise in endorphin production and a decrease in adrenaline and cortisol. Laughter is the best medicine.
